  • What Matters Today

indians1.jpgIt may be 9 degrees, but really, what matters today is:

    Indians 12
    Astros 2

    Thank God for His game.

  • Sorry LeBron, Bring On The Sox!

The two best teams in baseball go head to head for a chance to play for a world championship. It doesn’t get any better than this.

  • The Little $61 Million Engine That Could

    Tribe 12, Yankees 3

    “I think I can, I think I can” becomes “I know I can. I know I can!”

Nothing sweeter than spanking the $210 million Yankees – a team that has spent $1 billion since they last won the fall classic … A night to remember at the Jake … Pulled my ’99 Lofton jersey out of the retirement closet … Clutch-hitting KLove grabs 4 RBIs … Down goes Wang … We’re handing out high fives and partying with our entire section … Yankee fans were mocked and then mocked some more … Jeter nearly falls down swinging at a 96 MPH Sabathia fast ball … Lebron takes off his enemy hat … Pronk goes yard … Victor goes yard … The kid A.C. goes yard … My boy Gark goes yard … Shapiro is a genius.

Soak it up Cleveland. This is your baseball team, the little $61 million engine that could.

I get so sick of ESPN reporting as if there are only 2 teams in the league (NYY & BOS). At least for today, ESPN gets it right ……….

  • We Are Central Division Champions!

I took this video today as my son Collin and I celebrated our first Division Championship since 2001. Memories were definitely made. I tip my cap to the team I love and the true-blue, loyal Indians fans.

  • The Baseball Beer Song

I am thrilled to welcome my first guest blogger, my youngest son Collin (age 10). On Father’s Day this year, while at an Indians game, Collin wrote new words to “Take Me Out To The Ball Game”. He calls it “The Baseball Beer Song”. Take it away Collin!

Take me out to the food bar
Where we’ll miss half of the game
Buy me some peanuts and horse pee
I don’t care if I ever get drunk
So let’s wait for the Bud Light
If they don’t have any its a shame
For its Once, Twice, Three times I crashed
    While drinking Miller Light.

  • Update: NBA Man-Hugging

As a follow up to my The Cavs, Nerf and NBA Hugging post, I just felt I had to say that the hugging below is absolutely acceptable.

  • Ausbury Boys Tribe Tribute

My wife got me a very cool Christmas gift. As she (and many of you) know, perhaps my favorite place on the planet is Jacob’s Field where the Cleveland Indians play. My gift was my very own brick in the Indians’ new Heritage Park.

After coming up with several different things, I toiled over what to put on my brick — even asking several friends and family which of my ideas they liked best. I finally decided that I wanted something that would not just focus on me, but on all the Ausbury boys and their fondness of the Tribe. I wanted something that my boys would take their boys to see, and their boys, and their boys, etc.

Here are two pictures of the brick, one from right above looking down and one zoomed in.

This is for me, my Dad, my brothers Dave and Dennis, my nephew Austin, and my boys Grant and Collin … and of course, their boys and their boys. Hopefully someday my great, great grandson will be standing here, looking down at this brick with his son and both will be smiling:

  • Indians Snow-pening Day 2007

This may be the strangest baseball experience my family and I will have in our lifetime. Only in Cleveland is it 28 degrees with blizzardy snow on Opening Day. After four snow delays, they finally gave up as Mother Nature won the battle. We stayed through it all and made some awesome memories.
