One of my absolute favorite songs from the early 70’s. This is not your basic bubble gum, assembly line pop hit, but actually an intelligent and well crafted song with a complex bridge. I wore a few record needles out on this 45!

I was just reading the review of this song by Steve Kurutz on AllMusic.com and he makes a great point:
“”Heartbeat – It’s a Lovebeat,” with its squeaky vocals, tribal drum breakdown, and erupting chorus, is one of the most infectious teen pop songs ever released.”

LOVED this song! So when are you coming to Phoenix?

Hi Doug! Way to bring back some long ago memories with the DeFranco Family! I loved this song and remembered every word of it. My friends and I had their albums (remember: Save the Last Dance for Me) and we thought Tony was the absolute CUTEST! He even rivaled Donny Osmond in 1974. Reaching back into my ever fading “remembery” I think I even remember the names of the Defranco’s: Tony, Nino, Benny, Marisa, and Merlina??? Funny, since I have trouble recalling the events of recent days! Sorry to say that I sold all my “vintage” albums in a garage sale a few years ago — I guess I should’ve kept them. Hope kids and families are fine! I gotta listen to “Heartbeat” again!!
