Making Sense Out Of Nothing At All
Ok, Kim and need some help. We were listening to some old 80’s songs tonight and on came Air Supply’s “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All”. Kim especially has been befuddled by this song for quite some time. In fact, she’s close to needing therapy over this.
I know this is one of Jim Steinman’s songs, the brilliant composer of much of Meat Loaf’s discography including “Paradise By The Dashboard Light”. Steinman also wrote the pop/rock anthem “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” (Bonnie Tyler) … you know … Turn around, bright eyes? Now, I’ve got you signing!

We’ve even MSN’d.
Nothing. And now we’re considering a reward for anyone that can help us.
If you don’t know and you’d like to join in the torment, here you go ………

There’s not much, if any, insight at Jim Steinman’s blog [http://jimsteinman.blogspot.com/]….but it’s interesting to note…PLEASE BE AWARE NSFW LANGUAGE ETC. Also, check out his ‘song’ page [http://www.jimsteinman.com/dreampol.htm].

just let is go, Kim…let it go…
it’s not worth it…move on… -
Seems like he’s becoming aware of the hollowness of his life and wonders how she was able to perceive the substance of a relationship with a man who consisted of nothing. Making (being in) love out of nothing (me, empty man) at all. Just my impression.

Still, no matter how you slice it, that is one cheesy video.

It doesn’t mean anything. It was written to appeal to certain demographic and be a huge hit, and it was. Corporate music. Nothing wrong with it, but quite a bit different than a song that has a story.
